NRR Cat King Cole was the sire of the Open and Non Pro Derby Stallion Stakes Champion: Cats Lightning Rey. Cats Lightning Rey was shown by Nick Odell in the Open to take home $6,841. Regan Plendl took top honors once again in 2018 aboard Cats Lightning Rey taking home $5,701.

Our Open Reserve Champion was Cornrey, owned by Hank and Karen True and shown by Scott Amos. Cornrey is sired by Dual Smart Rey, who also sired our 2017 Derby Champion.

We had a number of great stallions eligible for our 2018 Derby Stallion Stakes. NRR Cat King Cole had two entries in the Open, Cats Lightning Rey and NRR Coles Dual Rey. Dual Smart Rey has proven to be a huge contender here in Colorado being the 2017 Open Champion and Reserve Champion with Cornrey here in 2018. Neat Little Cat was the sire of Open horse Neat N Katty shown by Dax Hadlock and owned by Denise Shewmaker. Third Cutting also had multiple eligible horses this year. He was the sire of Open horse Sally Love it, shown by Robin Hayes and owned by Gregory Ranches as well as Shes Outta Grace, shown by Jeremy Young and owned by Crazy Mountain Cutting Horses.

The Non Pro also had a great group of horses eligible, once again with NRR Cat King Cole took top honors with Cats Lightning Rey and Regan Plendl. Q The Lights owned by Sandra McBride, is the offspring of Light N Lena, and Sally Love It sired by Third Cutting and shown by Jerry Gregory.
